Having worked with groups in a wide variety of community art projects (ceramics, driftwood sculpture, sculpture / structure design, woodland sculpture, and installation and interactive work) people began to simply ask me to ‘design this’, ‘interpret that’. Invariably I would say ’yes’ and then get on with the business of fulfilling their brief.
In any given task, I have always endeavoured to view the inherent limitations of budget, client need and public use as the challenge of design. I believe that when a person rises to a challenge - that skills naturally develop, and so I became an accidental sculptor. Here are some examples of that work.
